Good morning all, 

I adapted slightly our ELA homework packet for the week to include a short paragraph related to our story and research that we will be doing this week. Students received the same instructions in class so everyone should be all set. If not, please see the following and don't be afraid to reach out. Especially for this assignment I would recommend spacing out the workload of the paragraph (a few sentences at a time) so it does not become overwhelming. 

• The packet this week includes: 
  • Spelling list and challenge words
  • Cursive practice (1 time, neat as you can be, please!) 
  • Lined paper 
    • On the front: Regular sentences- 5 sentences with 2 spelling words in each. Please skip lines between sentences.
    • On the back or you may put on a separate sheet of paper!: This week we will be writing an expository piece similar to our story Letters Home from Yosemite. These will be about our hometowns (ex: Fairhaven). We will do the research and writing in class but I want students to write a paragraph about what you already know or what you want to learn about your town. DUE WEDNESDAY 10/2
      • 8-10 sentences. More is fine too!
      • Introduction sentence and conclusion sentence. 
      • Proper capitalization and punctuation​ please.

• Friday 9/27 is the last day for the Yankee Candle orders, please get them back to school before then if you would like to order. 
• Next Friday 10/4 is our first Friday Mass. Please send your students to school in their dress uniform. 

Hi all, 

Below you will find this weeks The Horned Toad Prince (test day 9/27) and next weeks Letters Home from Yosemite (test day 10/4) spelling lists. You will find that your child has these in their homework packet for the week, but just in case it goes missing, or the dog ate the homework here are the lists. I have seen a big improvement from our first spelling test to this past weeks. :)

Hi everyone! 

I hope you are all having a great week. I just want to highlight a few things that are going home in the folders this week: 

• Picture day order forms- THIS FRIDAY! Students may come to school in dress down attire only if they are having individual pictures taken. 
• Many classwork and homework sheets in both math and ELA, including last weeks spelling tests. 
• Some of you have low balances on your child's lunch accounts please send money if necessary.
• Information for the Cub scouts, SJS Skate Night (Mon. Sept. 23rd 6-8pm)

Hi families!

Here is a quick update about weekly spelling tests for ELA vocabulary. We will introduce the words on Mondays and review throughout the week practice in order to be ready for our Friday spelling tests. There will be 20 words each week and 5 challenge words. The challenge words will only benefit the student and not harm their scores. We will not work on the challenge ​words during the week as they are intended as a challenge! One homework a week will be a cursive handwriting sheet with the spelling words in order to reinforce our work in school. Additional studying should be initiated at home.
